Springdale Family, We are aware of the reported incident at the Des Moines National Speech & Debate Tournament at the EMC Expo Center today, June 19, 2025. All Har-Ber High School and Don Tyson SOI Debate students, faculty, staff, and sponsors are safe and accounted for. Here is a statement shared from the tournament officials: This afternoon, an unidentified attendee entered the stage during the Humorous Interpretation Finals, interrupting the round. The individual has been subdued and removed from the premises. There were no weapons involved, and no threats were made. The hall was evacuated and there are no reported injuries. The rest of the venue has been swept for any potential threats by members of law enforcement. We understand the concerns people have, and we want to assure everyone that this is an isolated incident. We plan to resume the tournament later today and will aim to update attendees on the revised schedule by 4 PM CT.

🎶 What an incredible week at the 7th Annual Springdale Youth Choir Camp! 🎶 Members of the Springdale Choral Music Team were proud to host this exciting event, welcoming talented 3rd–7th grade students from across the Springdale School District. Throughout the week, campers came together to sing, learn, and have a blast making music and new friends. The week wrapped up with a wonderful performance of five songs in the HBHS rotunda — a perfect finale to a fun-filled musical journey! Over the past five days the HBHS Mock Trial team competed at the National Mock Trial Championship. The team performed exceptionally well. Earning 9th out of the United States, territories, and South Korea. Three years ago the Trial Cats placed 36th, last year we were 24th and this year finished top 10. This is the first top 10 from Arkansas since 2000. Each case takes approximately 3 hours to complete with the students participating in multiple scrimmages leading up to the competition start. Followed by four rounds litigated in front of sitting judges with attorneys and judges comprising the juries. In addition to the team award, Aaron Oesterle earned a “Star Witness” award out of the hundreds of witnesses. Aaron portrayed the expert witness “beck,” an AI tech millionaire. A special thanks to our volunteer coaches Monica Wiederkehr from SOI and Alumni Trey Bowerman who volunteer an average of 10 hours a week of afterschool practice throughout the school year. Daniel Caudle serves as the head coach for HBHS Mock Trial. He is dedicated to this program and a wonderful leader for this team.
