Parents and Students,
Arkansas Code Annotated §6-16-1901 states that “beginning with the graduating class of 2027, a public high school student shall complete a minimum of seventy-five (75) clock hours of documented community service in grades nine through twelve (9-12), as certified by the service agency or organization with which the public school student volunteers, in order to graduate.
These hours accumulate starting in the summer between a student's 8th and 9th grade year and must be completed by the end of the senior year in order to graduate. If you were a 9th grade student in a Springdale junior high school last year, you likely completed 15 or more hours toward this requirement.
Just a reminder, CSL hours are not required to graduate for the graduating class of 2026. However, if students complete 75 hours of documented community service, then they qualify for an honor cord at graduation and an elective credit on their transcript.
A list of community partners that have contacted Springdale High School with potential CSL opportunities is available by scanning the QR code below. In addition, if you regularly volunteer at your church, assisted living facilities, the animal shelter, or other area agencies, then these hours will likely qualify toward this 75 hour graduation requirement.
Springdale High School uses an online platform called InnerView for students to document their CSL hours. You will also find instructions for setting up an InnerView account and recording CSL hours by scanning the QR code.
Good luck...SHS Administration
