This year, Har-Ber High School had 122 students receive the seal, Don Tyson School of Innovation had 13, Springdale High School had 207 and Archer Learning Center had two. Springdale High School continues to lead the state in Seal recipients, with 981 students receiving the certification since its inception.
The Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy is a certification that recognizes students who demonstrate proficiency in English and another language. It’s awarded by the Arkansas Teachers of English to Students of Other Languages and the Arkansas Foreign Language Teachers Association.
The Seal was officially endorsed by the Arkansas Department of Education in June 2018, making Arkansas the 35th state to have an official Seal. Students across the country use the Seal as evidence for professional resumes, portfolios and interviews, and for securing scholarships and higher pay.
